For Successful Living

So, I have been working for Diesel for a year and I thought I'd give you a little background on the company. Renzo Russo is the owner and designer of Diesel based out of Italy. Diesel is an internationally based company that defines innovative and versatile clothing. It is fashion that looks good and feels great and is very fashion forward. Their campaign now is Global Warming Ready. I'm sure you have all seen ads in magazines or billboards and I really like the campaign this season. The line includes the fashion collection, denim, intimates, accessories, and kids. I work in the Soho store on Spring Street where I receive 50% off!! So feel free to come in and visit because the good thing about Diesel is that they love to share employee discounts. Take a look at the Diesel website where they show the campaigns and collections online.

at Betseyville....

So my internship is pretty awesome. I've already met Betsey and Chantel; they are so nice! The office has hot pink/yellow/floral walls and leopard and paper doll chairs. The showroom is so colorful and fun! Rows of racks of beautiful dresses, bathingsuits, intimates fill the showroom. I intern there two days a week and get to work with the director and assistant of PR. I love interning at Betsey Johnson... its pretty awesome

Who loves MK? ..not mk olsen

Michael Kors people.. :) My opinion, his show was one of the best! Full Frontal Fashion scored him about a 8.5 out of a 10 for the show. I love the colors he used: taupe, orange, greens, browns, a lot of fur trimmings, and big turtle necks.. so cute! I love the new look of suits with the down vests. My favorite looks were the fabulous mini-dresses with the feather poof around the bottom of the dress! The models looked great with the sleep straight hair, sunglasses, and other accessories. Check it out... xo

The Runway Scene

So I totally forgot to tell everyone what my blogs will consist of... I'm sure you can tell by now that I'm going to be talking about what's going on in the fashion/style world. My first post was about Marc Jacob's Fall 2007 Collection.
Who watched shows during New York Fashion Week? I know I love watching Full Frontal Fashion and seeing what the designers have come up with for their new collections but I've decided to discuss the backstage scene during New York Fashion Week. I usually go to nytimes.com and look through the fashion and style section to see what catches my attention. I found a cool video showing what goes on behind the scenes; the models practicing on the runway, hair/makeup, champagne, press interviews, and conversations with designers about their inspirations for their collections. The video was actually from someone who posted a blog on the nytimes website. For the first time, Marc Bouwer made his collection completely free of animal fibers, saying that there should be no cruelty involved in fashion. There were 77 shows for New York Fashion Week and a whole lot of press and it is always interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. I've never been to a show yet but I'm hoping I will in the near future.

Here's the website for the video: http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/
The video is on the right and its the last sample video you can watch.

Beautiful and a Little Bored

As some people know, New York Fashion Week for Fall 2007 has arrived. I've been viewing a lot of designers shows and seeing what I like. One of my favorite designer is Marc Jacobs. I watched his show on the marcjacobs.com website then went to Nytimes.com and read an article about his Fall 2007 collection. The article talks about his inspirations for this collection. The collection was mostly inspired by a Bertolucci movie "The Conformatist" and Fassbinder films. I personally love his collection it is very 1930 -1970s classic with sleep dark clothes that almost look boring yet beautiful. The music was also dark. All of the clothes were very neat and appealing. The set was featured with beautiful french doors and a faux tiled runway. Everyone knows the Marc Jacobs fashion shows are one of the most anticipated shows. I really like where he took his inspiration from; it separates him from other designers because he is willing to take risks. Here is a video from nytimes.com that shows some of the show and Marc talking about his inspirations for his collection. http://video.on.nytimes.com/?fr_story=d098f2b0ad6b526512dff4592eaf798e470f5430

The whole fashion show is featured on the Marc Jacobs official website as well.

That's it for this blog.
